Indonesian Food: Local Snack, Cheap but Rich of Benefits

“ Orang bilang tanah kita tanah surga…tongkat kayu dan batu jadi tanaman “ a lyrics of a song which describing how fertile of Indonesia. Who can deny that Indonesia is very fertile although made other country want to come and command in this country. Our memory still fresh, Netherlands, Portuguese, and Japan ever colonize for several years even centuries at Indonesia.

Indonesia is very fertile, there for this country has many various kinds of plants which located in every region of this country. Food plant is one of commodity that Indonesia has. This food crops production can consume directly or cooked to traditional snack but full of nutrition. From many food crops which can consume are beans, bulb-tubers, corn and others food plant.

Beans likes red nut is local plant which has high protein and B1 Vitamin that can help our growth. Beside can consume directly this plant also can processed to bread, cracker, sweet jam, and for content of cakes like dumpling, moon cake, dorayaki, donuts. It is also can made to be ice cream.

While, bulb-tubers like suweg, uwi, cassava, yam, bentul, kimpul, gadung and ganyong contain several nutrient which benefit for our body. The womb of those bulb-tubers are calcium to make our bone and teeth strong, calorie to protect our power, phosphor for help our metabolism, C Vitamin to protect our body. The tuber can consume directly by boil it or fried it. Many foods can created from this fruit like gethuk, kripik, awug – awug, tiwul, jintul, cetil and other foods.

In the other hand, corn which contain carbohydrate for power, protein, C Vitamin. This fruit can made corn-rice, blendung, brondong.

These are our several foods that we can create from local food crops. To get that, we can make it our self or we can buy it at traditional market, up to you. If you want to make it, make sure that the fruit is free from poison that can break our health even cause of death. If you want to buy it, don’t be afraid lost much money, because this local food is very cheap.
